Bob the cat has died after being rescued from a family pool.

The male tabby was likely an outdoor cat from a south-end neighbourhood, and was found on top of a pool cover mid-June.

A family helped revive him and took him to the Aldergrove Animal Hospital, where he was treated for a torn trachea.

Bob was wearing a blue collar with a small blue bell on it. He was neutered and declawed, and approximately 10 years old. He had an old microchip, but the contact phone number wasn’t up to date.

Aldergrove is absorbing the cost of treatment, which included daily X-rays to keep an eye on his progress.

Staff still hopes his owner calls, so they can learn what happened to the animal.

“So far we haven’t heard anything, and we probably never will,” said receptionist Kelly Ottaway.
