All southbound lanes on Hwy. 400 at Hwy. 89 are open after being shut down for three hours this morning following a garbage truck fire.

Around 6 a.m. this morning a large garbage transfer truck travelling from Barrie to Michigan caught fire.

"Anything could have ignited it. It's hard to say what started the fire," OPP Const. Dave Woodford said.

He said the fire started at the rear of the truck. "The tires are completely burned off and the vehicle had to be towed."

The truck was moved off the highway to the commuter lot at Hwy. 88 so tow trucks clean up the garbage.

"Everything is all cleared up. Traffic is moving, but it will take a while," Woodford warns drivers.
