Bomb call has police busy

Base Borden military police officers were called to the city Wednesday afternoon after a bombshell was found.

Barrie Police officers were called to a home after a man was finishing a renovation in his grandmother’s attic and found a tank shell. Officers found the shell was already diffused and the military disposed of the shell safely.

Driving with Suspended Licence
A 34-year-old Barrie man is facing a February court date after he was pulled over in the east end Wednesday. Barrie Police officers said he was driving with a suspended licence. He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act.

Driver runs after crash
Barrie Police is searching for a Sunfire driver who ran away after a crash on Bradford Street Wednesday. Officers said construction crews saw a Pontiac Sunfire hit a work pit at 11 a.m. The driver went by a sign saying the road was closed for roadwork.

The car then went past a fence, over a small upgrade and crashed into a trench where crews were working on a drainage line. The driver and front passenger ran away, but two males in the back were taken to Royal Victoria Hospital for head and neck injuries.

Driver charged with impaired
A 54-year-old man driving downtown was charged after he was in a crash Wednesday. Barrie Police officers said his vehicle didn’t stop at a stop sign, and it hit another vehicle.

Police believe he was drinking and gave him a breath test back at the station. He was charged with impaired and held until sober.

Two arrested after bar fight
Barrie Police charged two men after going to a Dunlop Street West bar early Thursday morning. Police learned two groups were involved and two were taken to Royal Victoria Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Three teens arrested at group home
A Currie Street business owner called police after his wallet was taken from his office. He said three youth walked in and took it, then went to a nearby group home. Three 15 year olds were taken to the police station and arrested, one who was earlier reported missing.
